About

Looking for an easy way to make your classes more interactive and engaging? Join us for an introduction to Poll Everywhere, a tool that JMU provides to support classroom engagement. Poll Everywhere allows students to respond to questions in real time using their phones, tablets, or computers. In this session, we'll cover the basics of creating and delivering activities, including multiple-choice polls, word clouds, and Q&A activities. You will learn how to launch activities, collect responses, display results live, add polls to slideshows, and use engagement data to support learning. We'll also demonstrate how Poll Everywhere integrates with Canvas, including syncing course rosters, taking attendance, creating graded activities, and automatically passing scores to the Canvas Gradebook. Though this workshop will primarily focus on the usage of Poll Everywhere 1.0, much of the knowledge will be transferrable to Poll Everywhere 2.0, which is currently scheduled to be widely available to JMU users by the Spring 2027 semester. Whether you're new to Poll Everywhere or looking to build confidence with the platform, this workshop will help you get started! For those unable to attend the live presentation, a recording of the workshop will be made available. Please email underwmj@jmu.edu to learn how to access the recording.
