About

From Long Mountain Wayside on Rt 60 west of Amherst we will follow the AT South down through Brown Mountain Creek Valley to Swapping Camp Road and Creek before reversing direction for our return to the Wayside. A moderately strenuous hike of 7.5 to 8.5 miles with 1000-1200 ft elevation gain. Based on interest there would be the option to continue along the AT to Lynchburg Reservoir Area for a 10–12-mile hike. See Pictures for Hike Map and Elevation Profile. It is summer so be prepared Extra water, sun and bug protection. No dogs for this hike. And maybe a stop off at Dr Ho's Humble Pie on the way back?
