About

Join me for a nice 7 mile walk in the George Washington National Forest. We will meet in Churchville in parking lot behind the bank in the small shopping center at the junction of 250 and 42. We will car-pool to the small parking area off Stover shop road and park on the grass. We will then walk about 0.7 miles on Stribling Springs forest road to junction of Bears draft (FR535). From here it is a steady 1.5 mile climb to the junction of Bears draft and Wild Oak trail (FR716). We will bear right on Wild oak and continue along a ridge and downhill back to Stribling Springs road (FR535). This is a loop hike. Bring plenty of water (1.5 to 2liters). Wear sturdy hiking shoes and apply insect repellent. Average pace is around 2 miles per hour. Noone gets left behind. Should be back to cars around 12:30-1:00 p.m.
