Into the Woods: An Earth Listening Circle & Picnic
by Staunton Magnificent Women
About
Join us for a beautiful and unique morning outdoors as Mag Woman Jennye Johnson leads us in an **Earth Listening Circle** amid the ancient stone formations and forest of Natural Chimneys Park. We’ll meet at **Shelter #3 at 11:00 AM**, then begin with a short hike on the **Overlook Trail**, a ¼-mile trail through the woods with about 110 feet of ascent. It’s a small climb, rated easy to moderate, and leads to an overlook above Natural Chimneys’ remarkable 120-foot limestone towers. Then we’ll settle onto the earth for our **Earth Listening Circle**. **What is an Earth Listening Circle?** Earth Listening Circles are gatherings designed to help us slow down, listen deeply, and reconnect with the natural world and ourselves. Through guided meditation, silence and reflection led by experienced Earth Circle facilitator Jennye, we’ll step away from the noise of everyday life and make room for gratitude, hope, and the wisdom that can emerge when we simply become still enough to listen. Afterward, we’ll break out our picnic lunches and gather for an informal, facilitated conversation about what we noticed, felt, or experienced. The Circle itself will last approximately **1 hour**, followed by our picnic and conversation. **Bring Along:** * A yoga mat, blanket, or cushion for sitting on the ground * Your own beverage and a picnic lunch or snack * Optional journal or notebook and pen * Comfortable shoes for the short hike If you’ve never been to Natural Chimneys, this is a wonderful introduction! The park’s enormous freestanding stone towers rise as high as **120 feet** and resemble the turrets of an ancient castle. They were formed from limestone dating back hundreds of millions of years, when this part of Virginia lay beneath the sea. **Natural Chimneys Park & Campground** 94 Natural Chimneys Lane Mt. Solon, VA 22843 The park is about **20 minutes from Staunton**, and day use is free. We’ll meet at the parking area by **Shelter #3**. **Interested in carpooling?** Add a note in the Discussion section below so we can connect and make arrangements. Come ready to walk a little, sit upon the earth, listen deeply, eat together, and experience a familiar landscape in a very different way. Can't wait to spend a lovely Fall afternoon with you!
