About

Join us for a scenic 3.4-mile out/back hike (830 feet elevation change) into the Shenandoah Wilderness, featuring peaceful forest trail, fascinating rock formations, and an outstanding viewpoint at Chimney Rock. Before setting out, we will begin with an optional 10-minute yoga-inspired warm-up sequence designed to gently loosen the legs, hips, back, and shoulders and help prepare the body for the trail. No prior yoga experience is needed, and participants are welcome to join or simply relax before the hike begins. The route travels through a quiet and rugged section of Shenandoah National Park, offering a true wilderness experience away from the park’s busier overlooks and trail corridors. As we make our way through the forest, hikers can enjoy the natural beauty, seasonal scenery, and solitude of this federally designated wilderness area. The highlight of the hike is Chimney Rock, a dramatic overlook known for its unusual geological formations, weathered stone features, and expansive views across the surrounding mountains and valleys. We will pause at the rock outcrop to enjoy the scenery, take photographs, explore the distinctive formations, and have a snack before continuing the circuit. Ramzi is the lead with Pam helping as part of his hike-leader training. Meet at the Riprap trailhead parking (mile 90 on the Skyline drive).
