**Please note the new date July 18th** **Ravens Rock is a popular strenuous 5.5 mile out and back hike along the Appalachian Trail in Bluemont VA. The hike rewards hikers with sweeping, panoramic views of the Shenandoah valley. Part of the notoriously steep “Roller Coaster” section of the AT, the trail demands careful footwork and features 1500+ feet of elevation gain.** **Steep Terrain, Rocky paths: Hiking boots are recommended. Trekking poles are useful for stability.** **Main Trailhead: The closest parking is a small gravel lot on Pine Grove Road (VA 679) near Route 7 in Bluemont VA** **Additional parking at Snickers Gap Lot which adds 0.4 miles to hike.**
