About

Join us at MAKE Roanoke for another FREE Maker Mini, this one hosted by Michelle D about our CNC Router. CNC stands for Computer Numerical Control, and our CNC Router in the wood shop is one of several computer-controlled machines at MAKE Roanoke. These machines allow you to create intricate designs on a computer and have the computer use the machine to bring your creations to life. This brief class will cover the basics of using the CNC Router, tips for creating a cleaner project and setting up the software, time saver tricks, and the bits that can be used on the CNC Router. This class is free and open to the public, you do NOT need to be a MAKE Roanoke Member to attend. It is recommended for ages 16+, and is suitable for beginners but a basic understanding of Carbide Create is encouraged. You can download Carbide Create for free [here](https://carbide3d.com/carbidecreate/download/). We also recommend [this free video series](https://carbide3d.com/hub/courses/create/) to learn the basics of the software. * **Please note that MAKE Roanoke is an active workshop:** * All participants must have a signed waiver on file. If the participant is a minor, the waiver must be signed by a parent or court-appointed legal guardian. Waivers can be filled out ahead of time at [https://mkroa.org/waiver](https://mkroa.org/waiver) * Children who are not participating in the event are not permitted in the space. * Closed toed shoes are required in the space at all times by everyone, regardless of age or participation in an event. No sandals, crocs, or bare feet. * You may be asked to remove or tuck in dangling jewelry, lanyards, etc for safety. * Depending on the activity, other dress code rules may apply.
