**Parking:** [https://maps.app.goo.gl/Ymy9w4wVG9iFymqMA](https://maps.app.goo.gl/Ymy9w4wVG9iFymqMA) Coordinates: 38.453829, -79.167542 **Hike:** [Reddish Knob via California Ridge](https://www.alltrails.com/explore/custom-routes/reddish-knob-from-california-ridge-trail-da8572a?u=i&sh=jbc54i) **Hike Description:** This hike is a bit of a drive but the 360 degree panoramic views are worth the trip. Reddish Knob is one of the highest points in VA, rising 4,397 feet. Facing one direction gives you spectacular views of Virginia. Do an about face and you see similar views of West Virginia. Credit to Howard D. for exploring the options for this hike a few weeks ago and coming up with what we hope to be the best route. We will park off Briery Branch Road across from the California Ridge Trailhead. We will walk up California Ridge Trail for about a mile. This trail is more like a fire road - flat and wide with a very gradual ascent. We will then turn left on Lynn Trail and start a more intense ascent. Lynn Trail merges with Wolf Ridge Trail where we will bear right and continue to Timber Ridge Trail. We turn Right on Timber Ridge Trail and follow it the rest of the way to the summit of Reddish Knob and its amazing views. At the top you will see spectacular 360 views and unfortunately a lot graffiti in the parking area, You will also see the remnants of the foundation of a steel fire tower that stood atop the summit from the 1920s to 1975. After taking some time to enjoy the views, we will retrace our step back to our cars. **Disclaimer:** GetHiking Organizers are not professional guides.
